Exol team gets fighting fit for charity
Exol Lubricants has raised more than £600 for a number of charity initiatives over the past year including The Brain Tumour Charity and the Alex Hulme Foundation through its healthy living initiative.
The sales team came up with the idea of hitting the scales once a quarter in order to get fit and is donating funds for every pound lost or gained. In a bid to support its staff, Exol has pledged to donate £5 for every pound each member loses, while the employees have pledged to donate £5 for every pound they have gained. So far, the Exol sales team has lost a combined total of 27lbs.
The Brain Tumour Charity was one of the charities chosen and it funds pioneering research to find new treatments, improve the public’s understanding of symptoms to reduce diagnosis times, and also increase survival rates while ultimately searching for a cure.
Meanwhile, significant funds have also been donated to the Alex Hulme Foundation, a charity dedicated to enhancing research into Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children.
The charity was created as a legacy to Alex Hulme after he sadly lost his six-month battle to the form of cancer in September 2011. Unfortunately there is no funding available into the causes and treatment of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children which is why the charity is so important.
Steve Dunn, Exol Lubricants sales director, added: “The initiative came about by the team’s desire to promote wellness in the workplace. As active fundraisers we then recognised the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for worthy causes while getting in shape in the process. As Exol and the team donates for every pound lost or gained, we don’t take the weigh in too seriously and view it as a chance to have a bit of light-hearted fun each month and collect much-needed funds for charity.”
Exol is a big supporter of all charity work and its employees regularly get involved in raising money for various causes, such as by participating in charity football matches, fun runs, the Macmillan Coffee Morning, and Jeans for Genes Day.
