Exol-sponsored Worcester Warriors win dramatic Premiership Rugby Cup final
Exol Lubricants-sponsored rugby union side Worcester Warriors won a nail-biting Premiership Rugby Cup final after extra time on tries scored.
Warriors were down 18 points to 25 against London Irish at Brentford’s Community Stadium, but a last-gasp try by Kyle Hatherell brought the two sides level after the clock had passed 80 minutes.
In the 20 added minutes of extra time neither side scored again, meaning Worcester won the match on number of tries scored, with three tries to London Irish’s one.
London Irish were looking to take their first Cup win since 2002 when the tournament was the Anglo-Welsh Cup, but were beaten at the very end by Warriors who take the cup home to Sixways for the first time.
Steve Everitt, group managing director at Exol Lubricants, said: “It was a fantastic game and a brilliant result for Warriors to bring home the cup for the first time. We’re proud of our long-term partnership with Warriors and look forward to more success together in future.”
Exol’s partnership with Warriors sees the lubricants’ branding appear at the team’s home ground at Sixways Stadium, and across the backs of the squad’s kit.
Exol Lubricants supports a wide variety of sports across the Midlands ranging in level of seniority, from grassroots girls’ football team Lane Head Vixens to Kidderminster Harriers FC, plus jet ski racing, truck racing and rallying.
